The Schools for Female Leadership in the Digital Age, a Huawei initiative to equip young female leaders to thrive and guide Europe into an inclusive, sustainable digital future, attracted the best female talent to Valencia, Spain, this week for its fourth edition.
The School’s Director, Berta Herrero, Head of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion at Huawei Europe, welcomed the students and said she was honoured that her native Spain was hosting the programme. Women from all around Europe are gathered here to develop into the leaders the world needs. When they hold positions of leadership, they will recall that all began at our European Leadership Academy in Spain. We will provide them with the knowledge and abilities necessary to lead the digital revolution throughout this week. I want children to know that skill is a powerful force. Women are powerful. Tech has a lot of power. Combine the three and let the strength of your abilities, aspirations, and resolve propel you forward.
The 29 students, who come from 29 different European countries, come from a variety of academic disciplines, including engineering, biotechnology, humanities, and social sciences. But what unifies them is their shared desire to transform the world. Following selection by a fair jury, they were each given a full Huawei scholarship to attend the School.
High-profile female leaders and mentors, including top business executives, tech experts, researchers, members of the European Parliament, former EU Commissioners, and members of the media, urged them to take advantage of the opportunity at the program’s inaugural ceremony, which took place at Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences.
