A director from a Manchester-based company joins a group of 12 female business leaders from the North of England on a trade mission to the US in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th. Zoe Brimelow represents Duo, a family-run packaging manufacturer and consultancy established in 1988, with significant distribution hubs in the US, Europe, Australia, and China.

This initiative, organized by the Department for Business and Trade, is called the Northern Powerhouse Women’s International Networking (WIN) trade mission. It’s part of a pilot program aimed at boosting the involvement of senior female executives in global trade. Zoe will be heading to Indianapolis and Chicago to engage with a community of innovators and leaders dedicated to advancing equality.

Her itinerary includes meetings and strategy sessions with prominent organizations such as the British American Business Council, the National Association of Women Business Owners (Chicago), and the British Consulate General Chicago. Additionally, she’ll have the opportunity to network with US-based companies.

Zoe expressed her gratitude for being part of a delegation that contributes to the momentum of equality in the packaging and manufacturing industry. She highlighted the progress made by inclusive, forward-thinking companies and initiatives like the WIN trade mission, which foster more opportunities for advancement.

She emphasized the importance of equality in fostering innovative thinking, building professional relationships, and advancing businesses towards a circular economy. Zoe believes that the insights gained and connections made during the trade mission will benefit businesses not only in the North of England but also nationally and globally.

Bev Mullin, Deputy Head of Partnerships at the Northern Powerhouse division of the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), stated: “The Women’s International Networking program seeks to reshape the business landscape for women, providing a structured and nurturing environment for them to expand their enterprises and fulfill their potential.

“We take pride in hosting 12 outstanding women from various regions of the North of England, among them Zoe Brimelow from Duo, who also serves as a Northern Powerhouse Export Champion.
