Buffalo’s Business First presented SBU’s DeSimone with the Woman of Influence Award

Dr. Kimberly DeSimone, a professor at St. Bonaventure University’s Jandoli School of Communication, will receive a Woman of Influence Award from Buffalo’s Business First on September 14.

25 local women will be recognised for their services to the community by the weekly business magazine. DeSimone received recognition for inspiration. There were around 170 nominations for women.

The Women of Influence awards ceremony will be held at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens on September 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The 17th annual awards honour these women’s commercial savvy and civic engagement.

“The panel chose these women based on their ability to rise above a very talented pool of competitors,” said John Tebeau, Business First publisher. “We’re honored to recognize their accomplishments.”

DeSimone, the creator of the Advancing Women podcast, is an ardent supporter of women’s advancement and their professional achievement. Her former organisation, New York State Women Inc. (Buffalo/Niagara Chapter), aims to improve the lives of working women by developing strong women on all fronts: personally, professionally, and politically.

The National Association of Female Executives (NAFE), The National Latina Business Women’s Association (NLBWA), The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), and Buffalo/Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives (BNSME) are just a few of the organisations that DeSimone is involved in for the advancement of women.

St. Bonaventure University, the first Franciscan university in the country, is a community dedicated to changing the lives of its students both inside and outside the classroom by igniting in them a passion for lifelong civic engagement and service.
