As of right moment, drivers in all 26 HDB towns have access to more locations for charging their electric cars (EVs), with over 2,400 charging stations built at about 700 Housing Board residential parking lots.

With the installation of the first public fast chargers in HDB commercial parking lots, drivers of electric-powered taxis, private-hire cars, and commercial fleet vehicles may now recharge their batteries considerably more quickly.

On January 18, EV-Electric (EVe) Charging, a Land Transport Authority company in charge of managing the installation of public EV chargers, said that drivers may obtain half a full charge from these rapid chargers in 30 minutes on average.

The two HDB commercial parking lots where the new chargers are located are the Oasis Terraces neighborhood center in Punggol and the HDB Hub in Toa Payoh.

Senior Minister of State for Transportation Amy Khor announced during the fast charger launch event at HDB Hub on January 18 that the government plans to install fast chargers at other HDB town centers and neighborhoods as well as JTC Corporation industrial estates that are frequently visited by fleet drivers.

She promised to release additional information in the upcoming months.

Dr. Khor, Senior Minister of State for the Environment and Sustainability, declared: “We have met the interim goal of providing EV chargers to one in three HDB parking lots by 2023.”

She continued, “One major factor in encouraging the switch from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric vehicles is the accessibility of EV chargers.”

“To ensure convenience, we will install these EV chargers in the remaining HDB carparks over the course of the next few years.”

By 2025, the government wants to have installed at least 12,000 EV chargers in roughly 2,000 HDB parking lots.

Shell now has four fast charging stations at the HDB Hub parking lot, each powered by two 120 kW direct current (DC) dual-gun chargers. Additionally, two 22kW AC (alternating current) chargers will be present.

One 100kW DC dual-gun charger will power two rapid charging stations at Oasis Terraces in Punggol operated by SP Mobility. There will also be four 22kW AC chargers.
